Insufferable oldest brother of Hugo and Linus’. A bit stuffy. He is obsessed with courteousness and politeness and kind of beat the habit of being uptight into his brothers all their life. He goes only by ‘Black Tar’, fist and last name, never just his first, because his name is supposed to be silly, much unlike him. He leads a very strict and regimented life, the same kind of life that he tries to impose upon Hugo and Linus, and follows it without a problem. He adores schedules, lists, data, and maths, because he is just the pinnacle of an odd person. He and Hugo do not get along because unlike Black Tar, who has an obsession with rules, Hugo has the disastrous (for Black Tar) habit of doing the opposite of what is ordered, from which he also derives great pleasure.
An enigma, Black Tar has hair so dark brown it may as well be considered as black as his name. He used to have an eye dyeing obsession, which he passed to both his brothers, but no longer dyes them pink and as such his eyes display a natural green colour. He is the tallest of the brothers, as he is, after all, the oldest by far, and is somewhat gaunt. He stands disgustingly (in Hugo’s opinion) straight, reaching his full height with ease.
