THE TRUE SIGHT-SEEING, AND EATING, ENTITY OF WONDER
...and that which is, but not was, and will not be.
Clarence is the corner store worker who is also the fishmonger and butcher, hence his affinity for meat. Hugo meets him when he goes to sell the human meats from his seventh ‘victim’, and Clarence gladly accepts the sale. He is a very amicable and peaceable personality, usually knowing his customers by name and well enough personally to strike up a rather engaging conversation with each. He is largely optimistic, known for his frequent laughter, and gives special deals to little kids that come into his store with pocket money.
Meat is the centre of his personality, more or less, being the butcher, among other things, and he has a rather overbearing interest in it. He will often buy rare and exotic meats for his own ‘collection’, leading to he and Hugo’s buyer-seller relationship (and he gives Hugo deals, too). He is the only other cannibal in the story, and his favourite kind of meat is that which comes from his own species, the human.
Clarence, though he is not falsely kind towards his customers, often fantasizes about the taste of each patron’s flesh, which fosters a sort of distraction in his work.
His skin is slightly melanated, resulting in a colour akin to darker toast or the like (probably Hispanic). His eyes are brown and in terms of build he is relatively husky and strong-formed. Never seen outside of his corner shop, butcher, and fishmonger joint uniform- a blue striped button-up, khaki pants of the type they call slacks (what is it with Hugo’s World and slacks?), and a usually-dirty apron over top of it all- it is impossible to tell what he might wear at home. Possibly his home is indeed the corner shop.
Here is provided a list of Clarence's worldly likes and even more earthly dislikes.

CLARENCE FUN FACTS
When Hugo visits the corner shop and interacts with Clarence, the interaction goes somewhat like a video-game shop window, with buy and sell tabs and repeating dialogue. With as much as Hugo despises video games, it is quite the enigma as to why he perceives this interplay as such.
